COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BLEEDER, HIGH VOLTAGE, X-RAY GENERATOR SERVICING
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This Commercial Item Description covers a high voltage bleeder, dual type, with cables, for servicing x-ray generators.
Salient characteristics:
The high voltage bleeder shall be 15 inches (38.10cm) high by 10 inches (25.40cm) in diameter, weighing a nominal 25 pounds (11.34kg), and suitable for servicing x-ray generators.
The bleeder shall consist of two voltage dividers calibrated so that the output voltage of each is 1/1000 of the input voltage. The dividers shall be enclosed in a 5 gallon drum filled with insulating oil. Output shall be tapped to give 1/1000 of the input voltage for viewing on a storage oscilloscope.
The container cover shall have four federal standard type receptacles, two for the high voltage (H.V.) cables from the x-ray tube and two for the 5-foot H.V. jumper cables from the H.V. transformer. The cover shall also have terminals for connection to a dual trace scope with algebraic addition feature to show separate traces of the anode and cathode kilovolts peak (kVp), or the total of both voltages. The resultant waveforms shall also be suitable for determining whether or not the H.V transformer and the x-ray tube are functioning normally at a specific kVp.
The bleeder shall be free from burrs and sharp edges. The finish shall be free of chips, cracks, scratches, and other appearance defects. The bleeder shall be furnished with complete operational and service data manuals and a complete listing of component parts. Wiring diagrams shall be included for electrical items or components. Each part of the unit, other than common fasteners, shall be identified in the service data and parts list by the manufacturer’s part number.
